I have just recently got involved with SCORE here in the Detroit area. SCORE is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration. I will be doing counseling for small businesses who need help or those that are thinking of starting a business. This is an amazing resource that is staffed by Detroit area business experts that volunteer their time to help.
SCORE Detroit offers monthly workshops on topics like: Writing a business plan, planning your own business, basic marketing, should I start my own business, and more. If you are in the Detroit area, you need to take advantage of this.
